REPORTS TO: General Manager

Position Summary

The Guest Assistant is the face of the market and is responsible for ensuring high-quality service to guests and vendor-partners alike. The Guest Assistant is responsible for facilitating the cleanliness, maintenance, and turnover of tables in the Market, ensuring Vendor-Partners have the service ware necessary to transact business, and delivering exceptional to all our guests. This includes setting tables efficiently, serving and refilling water, and cleaning the dining area and serving stations.

Responsibilities, Duties, Functions, and Tasks

  • Maintains a clean, well-groomed, professional appearance always.

  • Responds appropriately to guest requests.

  • Communicates guest requests to supervisors as needed.

  • Clears dishes, sanitize and set tables, sweep or vacuum the surrounding floor in a professional and effective manner.

  • Helps restock utensils, napkins and other dining room equipment.

  • Ensures grooming of the entire restaurant and its perimeters.

  • Serves water, provide refills as needed.

  • Stocks all service areas and maintaining adequate supplies during meal period.

  • Ensures that each guest is treated in a friendly, professional, and timely manner.

  • Thanks guests as they are leaving.

  • Maintains personal health and sanitation standards based on health regulations.

  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Follows all company safety rules, policies, and procedures.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide

Skills and Aptitudes

  • Strong guest service orientation.

  • Good communication skills (verbally interacts with management, team members and guests).

  • Identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.

  • Ability to accept constructive criticism and work calmly and effectively under pressure.

  • Ability to take directions and be a team player.

  • Multi-task oriented and self-motivated.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to speak and hear, vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

  • Constant standing, sitting, and walking

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb.

  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Be able to manipulate fingers, hands, and arms to cut, measure, pour, serve, carry and wipe.
