POSITION PURPOSE:
The Beverage Manager is the trusted leader of the bars, taking direction from the Director of Operations and is responsible for the overall operation of the outlets. In addition to their primary responsibilities, it is the Beverage Manager’s job to maintain the bar team’s execution of brand and service standards. They act at all times to be authentic and engaged with guests and their employees, always representing the brand. This person needs to think quickly on their feet and ensure guests are the top priority.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
Leads by example.
Promotes, works, and acts in a manner consistent with the mission, vision and values of Politan Row and Jojo’s Beloved Cocktail Lounge.
Communicates to HR Manager all job post needs for open positions and schedules and conducts interviews with applicants
Ensures that all bar personnel are trained to properly execute and maintain service standards, cleanliness standards, drink preparation, team communication, and any additional training as per company directive.
Ensures that all beverages and products are consistently prepared and served according to our standards.
Leads the bar teams in developing new cocktails and menu offerings.
Responsible for the maintenance of bar printed materials, including menu books and in store signage
Assists the Director of Operations in developing training materials for bar teams.
Ensures all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times.
Responsible for the timely and accurate onboarding of all new hires, to include orientation, training, and
I-9 verification
Ensures that all bar team members receive necessary communication regarding new policies and procedures and confirms implementation and execution.
Leads the bi-weekly inventory count for all alcoholic, perishable, and non-perishable goods used in the bars
Ensures POS system is programmed correctly, maintaining accurate pricing and offerings.
Effectively communicates through various platforms, including email and Slack
Maintains 2-3 bar shifts per week, leading the team from the front. These shifts should be split between both outlets.
Keeps an evening schedule and is on site during Friday and Saturday night service.
Ensures timesheets and tip sheets are submitted in accordance with bi-weekly payroll deadline set by HR.
Responsible for ensuring that all teams adhere to standards of service and cleanliness through routine audits.
Ensures that all required checklists and daily shift notes are completed routinely and satisfactorily
Act in accordance with Beverage Program and Politan Row Operations SOPs and Policies.
Create and maintain daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly cleaning schedules, auditing employee execution regularly. Updating and printing corresponding checklists as needed.
Coaches team members if daily operational checklists are not completed or completed unsatisfactorily.
Responsible for coaching individual bar staff to meet sales goals determined in coordination with the Director of Operations
Generates ideas to activate the bars and the brand through community events, pop-ups, specials, promotions, with the approval of the Director of Operations to implement
Develops relationships with distributors and brand ambassadors in order to generate activations and facilitate staff tastings and trainings.
Manages the implementation and execution of all bar marketing initiatives.
Ensures that all products are received in correct unit count and condition, and deliveries are performed in accordance with receiving policies and procedures.
Prepares and submits orders for all bar products, including liquor, beer, wine, non-alcoholic, and perishable items
Prepare bar staff schedules and submit to Director of Operations for review
Ensures all bar equipment, furniture, and facilities are maintained and that any repair or maintenance needs are communicated and scheduled.
Ensures all invoices in Quickbooks are properly classed and coded on a weekly basis. Follows up on missing invoices or information with the appropriate distributor.
Ensures all debit card purchases are entered and coded within 48 hours of purchase.
Ensures physical invoices are scanned, entered, and saved to the shared Google Drive.
Attends required meetings, including operations, events, marketing, and 1-on-1 with the Director of Operations
Leads entertainment booking for Jojo’s Beloved.
Assists with Events coordination when needed.
All other duties as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● 21 years of age or older
● 2+ years of bar experience (see required experience below)
● Alcoholic Beverage Server Certification(TIPS)
● Computer skills including using apps, G Suite, etc.
● Above average base mathematical and spreadsheet skills
● Advanced knowledge in beer, wine, cocktails, spirits, techniques, and the overall food and beverage industry.
SKILLS/APTITUDES:
**All skills/aptitudes required of bartenders plus these skills:
● Strong communication skills (with beverage professionals, management, and employees)
● Strong planning and preparation skills - this will apply to menu planning, batching, and organizing team meetings, cleanings, and classes
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
● Constant standing, sitting and walking. Stairs may be involved as well.
● Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
● Be able to bend, reach, and stoop.
● Regular use of hands including frequent washing.
