Position Summary

The Bartender is the face of the beverage program of their bar outlet and leads guest interactions throughout the visit, ensuring that all guests have the highest quality experience possible. The Bartender combines ingredients to create classic and innovative alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages in accordance with guest’s needs and expectations. The Bartender takes pride in and shows dedication to the job.


Responsibilities, Duties, Functions, and Tasks

  • Maintains a clean, well-groomed, professional appearance at all times.

  • Welcomes each guest personally.

  • Performs opening and closing duties (bar is set up properly by opening time, and the bar and liquor storage areas clean, restocked and well organized by closing time).

  • Communicates with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language at all times.

  • Mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for guests of bar and dining room following recipes.

  • Ensures service style and standards are met and guest expectations exceeded.

  • Take drink orders from guests.

  • Maintains a clean bar and arrange glassware to create an attractive display.

  • Handles payment at the bar.

  • Maintains knowledge of current food/drink choices, brands, specialties, origin, taste, quality, and preparation methods.

  • Maintains bar tools and stock levels and let managers know if there are items to be replenished.

  • Requires evidence of age of any guest who appears to be under the age of thirty (30).

  • Responsible service of alcohol.

  • Promptly and professionally handles guest issues and communicates problems and concerns to management.

  • Maintains personal health and sanitation standards based on health regulations;

  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Follows all company/bar safety rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older

  • One (1) year of experience as a bartender in a similar environment

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Basic mathematical skills to handle money and give correct change.

  • Knowledgable of all forms of bar food, basic classic cocktails, and other beverages


Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience as a bartender in a similar environment

  • Alcohol service certification

  • Advanced knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and drink recipes

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to speak and hear, vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and th ability to adjust focus

  • Constant standing, sitting and walking

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb.

  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Be able to manipulate fingers, hands, and arms to cut, measure, pour, serve, carry and wipe.

  • Regularly required to use hands and frequent washing of hands.
